E-Bike Rental in the Axarquía: The Complete Guide

E-Bike Rental in the Axarquía: The Complete Guide

The Axarquía, the eastern part of Málaga province, stretches from the beaches of Torre del Mar, Torrox and Nerja up to the peaks of the Sierras of Tejeda, Almijara and Alhama. In between lie dozens of white villages, vineyards for Moscatel wine and terraces of avocado and mango trees. It is a fantastic region for cycling — and with an e-bike from the Axarquía you can enjoy all of it, whatever your fitness level.

Where to ride in the Axarquía

The coast

Between Torre del Mar, Algarrobo Costa, Torrox Costa and Nerja you will find seafront promenades and old coastal roads that are mostly flat. Perfect for a relaxed day out with stops at a chiringuito. Our article E-Bike the Nerja Coast describes a favourite route.

The white villages

Inland, villages such as Cómpeta, Canillas de Albaida, Sayalonga, Árchez, Salares and Frigiliana are connected by quiet mountain roads. This is where an e-bike really shines: climbs of several hundred metres become enjoyable.

The mountains

For experienced riders, forest tracks in the natural park lead to remote spots like the rebuilt village of El Acebuchal. Read E-Biking to El Acebuchal for inspiration. An e-mountain bike is the best choice here.

Prices for e-bike rental

Tips for riding in the Axarquía

  • Start early in summer; the hours before noon are coolest.
  • Bring at least 1.5 litres of water per person, more in July and August.
  • Use a lower assistance mode on flat sections to save battery for the climbs.
  • Mountain roads can be narrow: ride single file and use a bell in blind corners.
  • Village fountains are great for refilling bottles, but carry enough water for remote tracks.
